GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.– In less than a month, most West Michigan students will head back to school.
Orientations are already starting at Grand Rapids Public Schools.
This year, students will be starting the school year transitioning into a new direction. It’s part of a Transformation Plan the district has been working. FOX 17 has been updating you on the restructuring process.
Some of the changes will begin this year, including the phasing in of a new dress code. The purpose of the plan is to increase the district’s graduation rate, decrease the district drop out rate, and get students more college-ready.
Here is a check-list to keep in mind as you get your students ready for the class.
*Make sure your children are enrolled and that uniforms are purchased, if necessary..
*Sign up for any after-school programs if it’s needed.
*Get a physical for your student athlete
*Know what time your student’s school day starts and ends.
*Update your emergency contact information.
