GRAND RAPIDS, Mich — Hopkins won the OK Silver in 2012, and half of the teams made the postseason.  Here is a 2013 preview:

HOPKINS

The Vikings were unbeaten during the regular season i3n 2012, led by a defense that allowed just 10 points per game.  Hopkins returns 5 starters this season, 3 on defense.  The offense brings back 2 starting offense lineman, running back Quincy Collins saw action as a sophomore and should be a major factor in 2013.  Quarterback Ryan Pierce was called up from the junior varsity to make a few starts late in last season and is the likely choice under center this season.  On defense, defensive end Jacob Gibson, defensive tackle Wyatt Frank and safety Danny Tubergen all played a lot last season as juniors.

GRANDVILLE CALVIN CHRISTIAN

The Squires were 7-3 in 2012 and bring back 6 starters.  Quarterback Jamie Bristol returns and he also played safety last year.  Drew Besselsen and Drew Zwiers are back as receivers.  On defense, Zwiers and David Kuiper return at linebacker.

GRAND RAPIDS NORTHPOINTE CHRISTIAN

The Mustangs were very young in 2012 with only 3 seniors on the roster.  All 3 seniors did start, but that still leaves 18 returning starters for 2013.  Nick Swore is back at quarterback with a couple good receivers in Preston Huckaby and Jordan Douglas.  Defensively, Joey Stevens, Kenny Willekes and Collin McGinnis all return at linebacker.  NorthPointe should contend for the OK Silver in 2013.

WYOMING KELLOGGSVILLE

The Rockets were 2-7 last season, but return 14 starters this season.  Austin Spratling started at quarterback last year as a freshman and Julian Bean saw time at running back as a sophomore.  Linebacker Josh Rocafort leads 8 returning starters on defense.

WYOMING LEE

The Rebels were 3-6 in 2012, their highest win total since 2007.

KENT CITY

The Eagles were 2-7 in 2012.
