‘Concussion Discussion’ To Shed Light On Sports Injuries And State Law

PAW PAW, Mich. — Two meetings are scheduled to help anyone involved with youth athletics to understand a new state law addressing concussions and how to recognize the signs of concussions.

The free meetings are being presented by Bronson Orthopedics and Sports Medicine:

  • Tuesday, August 13, Paw Paw High School, 20609 E. Red Arrow Hwy, Paw Paw, 6:30 p.m.
  • Thursday, August 15, Portage Central High School, 8135 S. Westnedge Avenue, Portage, 6:30 p.m.

Though the meetings are free, registration is required at 269-341-7723.

The ‘concussion discussions’ are designed to help coaches, trainers, employees, and volunteers to comply with state law and to learn the signs, symptoms, and treatments for concussions. New Michigan law lays out new requirements on when young athletes are allow to return to sports after concussions.
