GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — A 32-year-old Morley man was charged Friday with the Aug. 13 Independent Bank robbery on Cascade Road in Grand Rapids.
According to district court documents, Andrew Rex Miller is accused of robbing the bank at approximately 3:25 p.m. he entered the bank and took an undisclosed amount of money.
“Hand over money from both teller drawers, this is a robbery,” he is quoted as saying to a teller in the documents. “This is a robbery, make no noise.”
The documents also quote several text messages that Miller sent before turning himself in Wednesday, Aug. 14.
“Didn’t have money cause I blew what I had on drugs felt like a failure… robbed a bank I know how stupid I am and I’m sorry,” one portion of the messages read.
Miller’s preliminary hearing is scheduled for Aug. 20 in U.S. District Court.
