081713tempsWEST MICHIGAN — After a cooler than average month of August summer weather will make its return this weekend and next week. Temperatures in the month of August have had many around West Michigan thinking fall as temperatures were on average 5 degrees below average for the entire month. The average maximum temperature so far this month is only 77 degrees, a far cry from warm Augusts of the past. In fact, in the month of August there have been 19 daily records broken for the coolest maximum temperature in the entire state of Michigan. Overnight and early mornings have been cool in West Michigan as well. 6 daily records have been broken in the month of August in Michigan for the coolest minimum temperature and at least half of those records broken occurred in West Michigan.

The cooler weather will become a thing of the past as a warming trend will start today and continue on through next week. A ridge of high pressure will allow for sunny skies and dry conditions to persist into the beginning of next week and temperatures will continue to climb. Afternoon high temperatures will warm back up into the low to mid 80’s by Monday and inch near 90 by Wednesday and Thursday.
