A Life Well Lived

mabel-tickner-2PARCHMENT, Mich- Mabel Tickner lived to be 108 years old and today her long life was honored by friends and family at the United Methodist Church in Parchment.

She mowed her own lawn at age 102. She never drank and never smoked and even joined a health club at age 100. The former school teacher and high school principal touched many lives along the way. Mabels daughter, Sue Fletcher remembers her as a woman who did many things.

“She was a remarkable woman, she was an educator, she was a wife, she was a mother, she was a working mother before woman worked. She had a masters at 60, she never drove until she was 50. After my father died she mastered mowing the grass and in her 70’s started traveling”

Mabel Tickner was Born while Theodore Roosevelt was president and she was 5 when Henry Ford introduced the model T.
