SPARTA, Mich.- A motorcyclist is dead after a crash Sunday afternoon on Alpine Avenue near 12 mile around 5 p.m.

The motorcyclist as David Plumb, 57, of Grant.

Officials had to close the road for hours as they investigated what happened.

According to the accident report, the motorcycle collided with a Chevrolet Impala driven by William Yuncker, 70, of Cedar Springs. Plumb apparently lost control of his motorcycle and crossed the center line, said the Kent County Sheriff Departmet.

Yuncker was seriously hurt, but his passenger, Mary Yuncker, 64, of Cedar Springs, suffered scapes and bruises. Both were pinned in the vehicle for a time.

Neighbors say the area is dangerous because of the speed and curves, investigators are still trying to figure out if either played a factor.
