GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Thunderstorms moved through West Michigan overnight, but cleared out of the area very early Thursday morning.  This will lead to clearing conditions and some drier air that will move in later in the day.

Storm damage Wednesday night was fairly limited, but consisted of some minor fires and power outages caused by lightning, as well as some minor wind damage.  The photo above of a shattered glass patio table was taken in Belmont in Kent County.

The cold front associated with those thunderstorms will not move through most of West Michigan until at least midday, suggesting that a few spots south and southeast of Grand Rapids may still see an isolated thunderstorm develop during the day.

The cold front will usher in a less humid airmass that will become more noticeable Thursday night and into the weekend.  Temperatures will cool down a bit as well, but still reach around 80° for most locations Friday.

A very nice weekend of weather is ahead of us; you can check out the complete 7 Day Forecaston the Weather page.
