KALAMAZOO, Mich- More than 200 volunteers showed up at the Douglas Center in Kalamazoo today, to give the nearly 100 year old community center a sprucing up. Pastor Addis Moore believes today was a way for the community to show their commitment to a place that has changed so many lives. “
“Today is the example of the commitment of a community to actually show the love for douglas community center and to show how much we are willing to invest in it ourselves to make sure it stays alive and is viable for our future.”
Rhonda Steward is an example of what The Douglas Center has done. She came here addicted to drugs and today she owns her own business. “so it gives me an opportunity to teach these kids that they can become business leaders, I now own my own business, so I have come in contact with a lot of people and it is really fun.”
Leaders hope to raise 100,000 in the next 30 days. Their goal is to get 2,000 people to give at least 50 bucks.
