A Tune Of Love: 96-Year-Old Pays Tribute To Late Wife

Posted

PEORIA, Illinois- a 96-year-old man is tugging at heartstrings everywhere, after professing his love about his late wife in a new song called “Oh Sweet Lorraine”.

Fred Stobaugh wrote that song after Green Shoe Studio held a singing-songwriting contest to help get more in-touch with the local music community.  The studio asked people to email them Youtube links of their songs, but instead, Fred mailed the studio an envelope  with the lyrics to his song, and the story about how he met his wife at a rootbeer stand in 1938.

“She was just the prettiest girl I ever saw, she was real timid-like but I just fell in love with her right there,” said Fred in a documentary produced by Green Shoe Studio.

The pair married 2 years later and stayed together for more than 70 years.

Fred doesn’t sing, but Green Shoe Studio was so touched by his entry, that they decided to professionally-produce the song at no cost to him.

“Listening to the lyrics and the passion behind the lyrics and the letter he sent us it was just so heartwarming,” said producer Jacob Colgan.

“Oh Sweet Lorraine” is now available for purchase on iTunes. To watch that whole documentary on Fred’s song, visit Green Shoe Studio’s website.
