LANSING, Mich. — If you are driving this Labor Day weekend, there will be fewer headaches from road construction. But some ramp and lane closures will remain, as usual.

The Michigan Department of Transportation traditionally suspends all state highway construction work on holiday weekends, which means some lane closures will be removed. But many projects require lane closures and ramp closures to remain through the weekend.

A big bonus is that workers on almost all projects will not be working, so speed limits through most projects will be 60 miles per hour. (Remember? 45 mph when workers present?)

Here is a partial list from MDOT of lane and ramp closures that will remain in place after workers leave the job after 3 p.m. Friday:

US-131, Grand Rapids, Kent County

  • Left lane closed northbound US-131 from I-196 to Ann Street
  • Ramp closed: Leonard Street to northbound US-131
  • Ramp closed: Eastbound I-196 to northbound US-131

I-96, Nunica, Crockery Township, Ottawa County

  • One lane in each direction between 112th Avenue and the Apple Drive bridge.
  • Ramp closed: Westbound I-96 to 112th Avenue
  • Ramp closed: Westbound I-96 to M-104
  • Ramp closed: M-104/120th Avenue to westbound I-96

US-131, Kalamazoo, Kalamazoo County

  • Ramp closed: Westbound M-43 to southbound US-131
  • Ramp closed: Northbound US-131 to westbound M-43

28th Street/M-11, Wyoming, Kent County

  • One lane open eastbound and westbound between Michael Avenue/DeHoop Avenue and US-131
  • Clyde Park Avenue closed at 28th Street

I-194, Battle Creek, Calhoun County

  • One lane open northbound and southbound between Hamblin Avenue and Columbia Avenue

(Complete list for the state)
