Suspect Charged in Kentwood Graduation Party Shooting

Screen shot 2013-08-30 at 5.09.03 PMKENTWOOD, Mich. — The man suspected of opening fire and wounding five people at a Kentwood graduation party was charged Friday.

Billie DeShawn McKinney faced three charges related to the July 14 incident, which include assault with intent to murder, felony possession of a firearm and carrying a concealed weapon.

Kentwood Police estimate that there were about 50 people at the party when McKinney and nine others showed up uninvited and allegedly started a fight that led to the shootings.  He is currently held in the Kent County Correctional Facility on a $500,000 bond.
