DETROIT,Mich. — According to a FBI press release: The FBI Detroit Field Office announces the following arrests and charges as a result of a joint investigation with the Oakland County Sherriff’s Office, Troy Police Department, Warren Police Department, Royal Oak Police Department, Michigan State Police, Bloomfield Township Police Department, Dearborn Police Department and Michigan Department of Corrections, Parole Office, Oakland County:
During the past six months, Oakland, Macomb and Wayne Counties have suffered more than 30 commercial pharmacy burglaries. The crimes, all similar in that they took place in the early morning hours, targeted facilities containing prescription controlled substances and medications. Video surveillance at each location recorded individuals who employed pry bars and other burglary tools to open doors forcibly and break windows in order to gain entry to the pharmacies. Once inside, the subjects would fill patterned or black garbage bags with controlled substances before leaving the location.
Federal criminal complaints have been issued for three individuals who are alleged to have stolen the controlled substances during the burglary of the pharmacies: Ameen Perry-Bey, a 26-year-old male, Juwan Perry, a 21-year-old male, and Calvin Benford, a 42-year-old male. Each is alleged to have committed the following offenses: conspiracy to possess and possession with intent to distribute controlled substances, in violation of Title 21, U.S.C., Sections 841(a)(1), 846. Perry-Bey and Benford are alleged to have also violated Title 18, U.S.C., Section 922, possession of a firearm by a previously convicted felon.
