GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — It’s been difficult to find too many negatives about the forecast over the last several days, and Thursday will not be much different around West Michigan.

A cold front exiting the Great Lakes has allowed some cooler air to slip into the region Thursday morning.  Temperatures dropped into the mid to upper 40s for many locations north of I-96 before sunrise.

Dry air and sunshine, however, will allow readings to return close to average for early September in the afternoon, with highs in the mid 70s.

A slight warming trend will then take shape as winds shift back to the south.  Highs will push near 80° Friday and in the low 80s Saturday.

Our next rain chance in West Michigan holds off until at least early Saturday.  A few scattered thunderstorms are likely as another cold front moves through, but the day should not be a total washout.
