GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — An argument at Heartside Park between a man, his former girlfriend, and two other people got physical, and resulted in the man suffering critical injuries.

The incident happened on Sunday evening at the park located at 301 Ionia SW.  When officers arrived, they found a 49-year-old male victim unconscious, and bleeding from the head.  He was taken to the hospital where he is listed in critical condition.

Witnesses told police that the victim had been arguing with a former girlfriend.  That’s when another man and woman — who were also in the park — told him to leave her alone.  The victim then started arguing with them.  The male suspect punched him in the head, causing him to fall.  It is not clear if the assault or the fall caused the critical injuries.

No suspects were taken into custody.
