BLOOMINGDALE TOWNSHIP, Mich. — A man who jumped from a 2003 Chevrolet Van — as it was traveling at around 40 miles per hour — was flown to the hospital for a severe head laceration.

It happened late Saturday night on 12th Avenue near 37th Street in Van Buren County’s Bloomingdale Township.  Deputies found that a 20-year-old man had opened the passenger door of the van and jumped out.  The reasons for his actions were not immediately clear, but did say the man had been drinking.  The driver told police that he was a relative of the victim, and that the van had been going roughly 40 miles per hour.

The victim hit the pavement and was flown to Bronson Methodist Hospital, where he’s listed in stable condition.
