WYOMING, Mich. — Heavy rains early Monday interrupted the morning commute by flooding neighborhood streets and a couple of major intersections, but residents of a Wyoming condo complex will be dealing with long-term damage.

Several units in the Bayberry Farms development off of Byron Center Avenue and 56th Street had several inches to several feet of water inside and outside.

The water flow at one point was so forceful that it broke out the glass in Steve Sharon’s sliding doors and moved a couch and a dresser in his lower level condo.

“We have had some minor water in the back yard, but never anything like this,” Sharon said. “It happened so fast, there was nothing we could do.”

Sharon’s wife called him at work with the bad news.

Five units in the complex seemed to face water damage Monday morning. The owner Sedlect One Properties, which developed the complex, said he will look into options for the condo owners but, without flood insurance, there is very little they can do.
