GRAND RAPIDS, Mich — Belding (4-0) hasn’t started this strong since the last time they played in state championship game, 1998.  Comstock Park, on the other hand, is getting pretty used to starting strong.  The Redskins and Panthers meet this week in our Game of the week.

Comstock Park (4-0) has already beaten 3 solid teams this season in Forest Hills Northern (3-1), West Catholic (1-3) and Allendale (3-1).  Belding’s 4 opponents have combined just 3 wins, but the Redskins have put all of their games away by halftime.  The game Friday night is not expected to be decided after 24 minutes.

Comstock Park is led by sophomore quarterback Pat Naughton, senior running back Jake Bush and on defense by senior defensive end Ryan Gruszka.  Belding has a very talented qb/rb combination of their own in seniors Kole Hart and Neil McCully.  McCully also leads the defense.

Rockford (3-1) travels to West Ottawa (3-1) in our Blitz Battle, it is the OK Red conference opener for both teams.  Last season the Rams beat the Panthers twice, including in the playoffs when they scored 2 touchdowns in the final minutes to win 35-28.  Rockford has ended West Ottawa’s season each of the last 3 years in the playoffs and the Rams have won the last 12 meetings between the schools.
