Kane Daniel Reeves was arrested at 8:36 a.m. in the 60000 block of County Road 665.  According to the release, the woman fled from the house again when Van Buren deputies arrived, and Reeves had to be subdued while again trying to chase after her.

Deputies say that Mary Teske, a mother of three, had gone home to retrieve clothing where Reeves, the children’s estranged father, was waiting.  He then viciously beat her and said he was going to kill her, according to a release.

Teske will require reconstructive surgery for the injuries on her face.  A fund has been set up to help raise donations for this surgery.

Reeves is currently lodged in the Van Buren County jail after being treated for self-inflicted injuries after allegedly slamming his own head into the plexiglass divider in the back of the police vehicle.  He will be charged with assault with intent to murder and another attempted murder charge that involves attempting to poison, drown or strangle the victim.  Both sentences carry a potential life sentence.
