TEKONSHA, Mich. — A Calhoun County deputy had his leg run over by a suspect’s car and he and a Michigan State Police trooper tried to get a suspect out of his car after a chase along M-60.

The trooper was also slightly hurt at the scene, but the suspect, a Lansing man who was driving a car stolen in Lansing, was taken into custody.

The chase began when the suspect drove into Calhoun County on M-60 after a robbery at a bar in Jackson County. While he was westbound on M-60, deputies laid out stop sticks on the pavement, but the suspect managed to drive around them.

Another set of stop sticks was set out, and the suspect stopped near the junction of M-60 and Old US-27. He refused to get out, and while the deputy and state trooper tried to get him out, the suspect’s car rolled onto the deputy’s leg, pinning him there.

After being treated at Oaklawn Hospital in Marshall, the deputy was released, because his injuries were minor. The trooper’s injuries were also minor.

The suspect, a 29-year-old Lansing man, is expected to be charged with felonies in Jackson County, in Calhoun County, and in Lansing.
