GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Speed and darkness are what sheriff’s deputies said led up to a fatal crash on I-196 near Butterworth Avenue Tuesday morning.

A look at the cars after the scene was cleared shows just how devastating the wreck was.  The Honda, believed to be carrying the two people who were killed, is barely identifiable.

The Ford Pickup truck involved in the crash, didn’t have quite as much damage.

The Michigan State Police Post in Rockford tells FOX 17 that the family members of the victims have been notified.  The driver of the Honda was Julien Tirado, 17, and Kevin Boonheaun, 17, both from Holland.
