BXxXHSNCIAAGf02ADA, Mich. — Emergency crews responded to a shooting incident Tuesday near Forest Hills Central Middle School, 5810 Ada Drive.

A 63-year-old man attempted to commit suicide across the street from the school by shooting himself in the stomach just after 4 p.m.

Kent County dispatchers initially told FOX 17 that a student had attempted suicide, but deputies at the scene found that it was a man who lived in the area.

He was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
