GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Seven cases of the flu have been reported so far this fall, which Kent County Health Officials say is more than they saw in 2012.

The strand of flu that the patients had was not specified, but health officials are using the report as an opportunity to remind people about flu vaccines.  They said it was especially important for children under the age of five, the elderly and those with week immune systems to get vaccinated.

Children between 6 months and 18 years of age not covered by insurance can receive a flu shot at any of their five offices for a sliding scale fee of up to $15.  Adults can get a vaccine for $25, or $33 for FluMist nasal spray.

To make an appointment at any of the clinics, call 616-632-7200.  To view a full list of clinics, visit the Kent County Health Department’s website.
