Nov. 5 Preview: Election Decisions To Watch

WEST MICHIGAN — The majority of election races in West Michigan this fall are either unopposed or there are enough seats for a position for all the candidates running.

That being said, there are a number of decisions on the ballot worth keeping an eye on.  The polls are open from 7:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.  To check where you are registered to vote, click hereClick on the links to learn more information about the issues voters will be deciding Nov. 5.

Allegan County

  • Saugatuck/Douglas consolidation– Vote for public approval to combine Saugatuck and Douglas.
  • City of Allegan Riverfront Improvements Proposal- Requesting $500,000 to acquire, improve and construct public plazas, sidewalks and boardwalks near the downtown riverfront.

Muskegon County

Ottawa County

  • Ferrysburg Bike Path Millage- Asking for $77,000 to construct bike and walking paths on North Shore Drive and 168th Avenue.
  • Grand Haven Local Improvement Proposal- Asking for $7 million to improve/replace the sewer and water systems and the sidewalks.
  • Spring Lake Public Schools Bond Proposal– Asking for $59 million to build new elementary school, improve facilities and buy new buses, among other improvements.

Van Buren County

  • Wastewater Treatment Plant Upgrade- Asking for $59 million to upgrade the sewer plant in Hartford.
  • Vote to eliminate term limits in South Haven
