2 Arrested for Allegedly Breaking Into Deputy’s Home

sheriff-cruiserARLINGTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. — Two men were arrested Monday after allegedly breaking into the home of a sheriff’s deputy in Van Buren County.

According to a news release, a 16-year-old and another 24-year-old broke into the unidentified deputy’s home at approximately 2:44 p.m.  The off-duty deputy held the teen at gunpoint until backup arrived, but the other man fled.

That man, from Grand Junction, was arrested after he allegedly broke into another house nearby and the homeowner alerted police.  He is currently housed in the Van Buren County Jail, and his identity will be released pending formal charges.  The 16-year-old was taken to the Allegan County Juvenile Home.

It was unclear if the deputy worked for Van Buren County.
