courtKALAMAZOO, Mich. — Nearly 9 lbs. of crystal meth and thousands of dollars were found in a Kalamazoo storage unit during late October raids.

Francis Block, Michael Head and Jeffrey Starrett were arrested Oct. 23 in connection with that discovery.  They were charged Nov. 7, according to federal court documents obtained Monday.

Block and Starret were allegedly spotted entering a storage garage on Stadium Drive on an unspecified date earlier in October.  During the Oct. 23 raid officials discovered 4 kilograms, or roughly 9 lbs., of crystal meth and $18,000 at that unit, which was in Head’s name.

All three men are charged with conspiracy to distribute the drug.  Block is also facing charges of possession with intent to distribute more than 50 grams.

According to the criminal complaint, Head admitted to officials that he allowed Block to use his storage unit to conceal drugs.  Block has been under investigation for meth trafficking since 2005 and arrested numerous times, most recently in January.   He allegedly has roughly 4 ounces of meth on him when he was arrested at a gas station near the storage garage.

Once Block was in custody, officials also raided several other locations in Kalamazoo County and arrested Starret and Head.  Their next court date has not yet been announced.
