zimmerman 2013(CNN) –George Zimmerman was charged Monday with aggravated assault, domestic violence battery and criminal mischief, after an incident at his girlfriend’s home in central Florida, said Dennis Lemma, chief deputy with the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office.

Zimmerman, who was acquitted earlier this year of murdering teenager Trayvon Martin, was arrested Monday after he allegedly pointed a shotgun at his girlfriend, a spokesman for the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office said.

This is one of several brushes that Zimmerman has had with law enforcement since he was acquitted this year of murder and manslaughter in the 2012 shooting death of teenager Trayvon Martin.

Earlier this month, police in Lake Mary, Florida, said no charges will result from an alleged domestic dispute in September between George Zimmerman and his estranged wife, Shellie Zimmerman.

Since his acquittal in the Martin case, Zimmerman also has been stopped for speeding twice. He was pulled over the first time in Forney, Texas, in July and told the police officer he had a concealed weapon permit and a gun in his glove compartment. The officer wrote on his incident report that he gave Zimmerman a verbal warning.

Zimmerman was pulled over in early September going 60 mph in a 45-mph zone in Lake Mary and received a $256 ticket. He was not carrying a weapon at the time.

So what's next, will Zimmerman forget to use a turn signal or make an illegal left turn? Breaking News, "Zimmerman fined for expired plates!!!" Can't people see the media is piling on because they didn't get the verdict they wanted??? LEAVE HIM ALONE!!!

Or he could follow the laws and stay out of trouble. If there’s no contact with police there’s no story. This man child has mental issues.

I was in support of George Zimmerman during the trial. I really do believe he got the short end of the stick. Lucky for him, justice prevailed.

That said, if he is being this reckless with firearms, he no longer has my support; however, his history with guns may cause a disgruntled girlfriend to accuse him of something he did not do. Hopefully, if this is the case, the media will also report that side.
