HOPE TOWNSHIP, Mich. — More details are emerging about a school bus that rolled between Hastings and Delton Township.

A trooper with the Michigan State Police who was on the scene said that there were five special needs children on board. He said they were taken to the hospital with minor injuries, some taken there as a precaution.

The bus is described as a Barry County ISD bus.

The driver was also injured in the crash. All who were taken to the hospital were expected to be released.

It happened shortly after 7:30 a.m. on M-43 and Anders Road in Hope Township.

The trooper said preliminary details indicate that the driver was going northbound on M-43 and went off the road for some reason, then over-corrected, and the bus rolled. No other vehicles were involved.

He said there were seat belts on the bus, and one child was in a wheelchair. There was an area on that bus to secure and lock the chair in.

All patients to be taken to Pennock Hospital in Hastings.
