GRAND RAPIDS, Mich- One day after being arrested, a Kent County Commissioner has been arraigned on charges of criminal sexual conduct and tampering with evidence.
Gary Rolls was taken into custody Thursday morning after leaving the commission chambers towards the end of a meeting.
The investigation into the commissioner began more than a year ago, after allegations surfaced that he sexually abused a woman from the time she was 9-years-old until she was 23. Since those accusations surfaced, Rolls had been absent from a lot of public meetings. As FOX reported early this year, he had been absent six times between July 2012 and January of this year.
According to the County Administrator, Rolls cannot be removed from his seat while he goes through the legal process. His term expires in December 2014.
