Deadly Standoff Suspect Charged With Murder

WillisMECOSTA TOWNSHIP, Mich. – The man who was arrested following an 11-hour standoff near Big Rapids which ended in murder has been charged.

Duncan Eric Willis II, 27, of Big Rapids was formally arraigned in 77th District Court on 11-22-2013 on a ten-count felony warrant and as a habitual offender 2nd notice. Willis was charged with the following

  • Homicide –  felony murder
  • Criminal sexual conduct – first degree (weapon used) x 6 counts
  • Kidnapping
  • Weapons – dangerous weapon – carrying with unlawful intent
  • Weapons – felony firearm
  • Habitual offender 2nd notice

Willis is being held in the Mecosta County Jail without bond pending further court action.

The victim in the fatal shooting has been identified as Kathleen Hawley, 58, of Morley Mi According to Michigan State Police records,
