WEST MICHIGAN — (FOX 17) — As lake-effect snow continues to pound far Southwest Lower Michigan, a clipper system diving in from the northwest will give all of us a chance of some accumulating snow on Thanksgiving Day.
This image from our in-house computer model shows the highest amounts northwest of Grand Rapids. In these areas, winds from the southwest will grab some water from Lake Michigan and enhance the totals. Amounts of 4 to 6 inches are expected in these areas, with lesser amounts across the rest of the area.
As of Wednesday night, here are the weather alerts for West Michigan:
- Winter weather advisory from 1AM until 7PM Thursday for Kent, Newaygo, Mecosta, and Montcalm Counties
- Lake-effect snow advisory until 7pm Thursday for Oceana and Mason Counties
- Lake-effect snow advisory from 1AM until 7PM Thursday for Muskegon, Ottawa, and Allegan Counties
- Lake-effect snow advisory until 1AM for Van Buren County
- Lake-effect snow warning until midnight tonight for Berrien and Cass Counties.
So far, far Southwest Lower Michigan has had the most snow. Here are some totals:
- Edwardsburg, 7.5″
- Sprinks Corners (Berrien County), 15.0″
- Buchanan, 12.2″
- Dowagiac, 9.3″
- Sodus (Berrien County), 12.0″
Also, Pentwater in Oceana COunty had 8.0″ accumulation.
