PARCHMENT, Mich . – A prayer vigil took place in honor of Dr. Teleka Patrick tonight. Dozens of people gathered in support of her and her family.

The Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office said she was last seen December 5th. Later that night, an Indiana State Trooper found her car abandoned along I-94 in Portage, Indiana.

It’s been eleven days since her disappearance. Tonight’s vigil was held in Parchment at Trinity Temple Seventh Day Adventist Church. Her parents said this is where Patrick would often worship.

Patrick’s parents flew up from their home in Florida, Sunday morning. This is their second trip since her disappearance. Her brother and sister also traveled from out of town.  Pastor and Mrs. Patrick said their daughter moved to Kalamazoo in late June. That’s when she started her medical residency at both Borgess and Bronson Hospitals. She moved from California where she completed her MD – PhD program at Loma Linda University.

More Background Regarding the Night of Teleka Patrick’s Disappearance

On the evening of December 5th, Kalamazoo County Undersheriff Pali Matyas said Teleka Patrick was at the Radisson Hotel in Downtown Kalamazoo. She needed a ride back to her car at Borgess Hospital where she works. The undersheriff said a hotel shuttle driver drove Patrick to her car. He’s the last person known to have seen her. The male driver has been ruled out as a suspect, the department confirmed.

Indiana State Police said surveillance videos from area businesses – located near her abandoned vehicle – were checked. A detective said nothing in the videos showed Patrick or her vehicle (which sat on I-94).
