KENT COUNTY, Mich.,– Well known rental property owner Marshall Brabo displayed a range of emotions before learning his sentence for assaulting his wife Pamela on February 15, 2013.

Brabo went from sobbing about the marriage to airing the couple’s dirty laundry. He even appeared to threaten his wife again if she didn’t distribute his property the way he would like among their kids.

Brabo was convicted of brutally beating his wife after the two met up for dinner and to discuss divorce. Pamela testified he beat her with a crowbar and wrench for hours. She said she was only able to escape after playing dead. Pamela suffered several injuries from the attack, including fractures to her face and skull.

“On the night of February 15th, you shattered the family that we shared for 33 years,” she said while reading her statement to the court. “While I never wanted it to be this way, I do think you should spend the rest of your life behind bars for what you’ve done to us.”

Due to the “savage” nature of the attack and Brabo’s demeanor in court the judge decided to go above sentencing guidelines, by handing down a sentence of 24-36 years in prison. He added he didn’t feel comfortable sentencing Brabo to life in prison, due to the possibility of parole.
