Body Found On Road; Death Ruled Homicide

Sheriff Kent CountyNELSON TOWNSHIP, Mich. — Two suspects were taken to jail in Kent County in connection to the discovery of a body along 16 Mile Road near Myers Lake Avenue.

The body has been identified as Steven Carl Day, 54, of Grand Rapids. A driver found Day’s body on Dec. 18, thinking at first that it was a deer.

An autopsy was done on Dec. 19, and the Kent County Medical Examiner’s Officer ruled the cause of death as homicide.

The two suspects were taken to the Kent County Correctional Facility, and their names have been withheld pending review from the Kent County Prosecutor’s Office.
