HASTINGS, Mich.,–One of the hardest hit areas in West Michigan following this weekends ice storm was Barry County. Crews were out all day cleaning up the mess Mother Nature left behind, including those with Bennett’s Tree Service.

Crews say they plan on working into the night and have had one call after another, owner Larry Bennett says it will be more than a month till everything even gets close to cleaned up.

The ice isn’t helping things either, as more snow falls and adds weight to the already ice covered branches. By 5 p.m. Monday there were around 18,000 without power in Barry County, Consumers Energy is hoping to have power restored there by Friday.

Crews will be working around the clock, consumers is bringing in around 1,000 workers from as far as Kansas to help. Consumers says its the utility’s worst ice storm in ten years.
