JACKSON, Mich. — Some residents who haven’t had power since the weekend ice storm may have to wait until Saturday for their Christmas lights to come back on.
But FOX 17 viewers have pointed out on the station’s Facebook page that in the past they were told restoration of power took less time than they were first told. They also told stories of bringing crews coffee.
As of Sunday night, Consumers Energy said 205,000 customers statewide had no power, down from a peak of 250,000 over the weekend.
The company gave estimates county-by-county on how long power restoration would take, as of Monday morning:
- Tuesday: Allegan, northern Kent and Saginaw counties;
- Wednesday: Gratiot, Ionia, Montcalm and eastern Kent counties;
- Thursday: Kalamazoo County, western Kent County and greater Grand Rapids;
- Friday: Barry, Calhoun and Shiawassee counties;
- Saturday: Some portions of Clinton, Eaton, Genesee, Ingham, Livingston, Oakland and Ottawa counties.
Workers and contractors totaling more than 1,500 personnel were at work on getting the lights back on as of Monday morning. About 300 more were enroute from other states.
As of 4 a.m. Monday, Kent County was among the counties with the most customers without electricity:

- Clinton (11,003)
- Eaton (14,615)
- Ingham (14,383)
- Ionia (5,671)
- Kalamazoo (5,690)
- Kent (18,488)
- Livingston (3,377)

- Ottawa (1,418)
