Michigan State announced early Thursday morning that the senior linebacker has been suspended for the remainder of the season because of a violation of team rules.

“It is extremely disappointing for all parties involved,” head coach Mark Dantonio said in a statement.

“We will stay focused and close ranks as we prepare for Stanford on January 1 in the Rose Bowl. Max will forever remain a Spartan and a valued member in this team’s achievements. We will have no further comment on this matter.”

Bullough has spent two years as a captain for the Spartans and was recently named third team All-American and first team All-Big Ten after recorded 76 tackles and helping Michigan State form one of the best defenses in the country.

The Traverse City native is a third generation Spartan football player. His younger brother is a redshirt freshman on this year’s team.
