The Norton Shores Fire Department is issuing an advisory tonight:

Wind chill warning in effect from 7am Mon morning to 7pm Tue eve for the Norton Shores and surrounding areas.

The coldest weather in nearly 20 years will be upon us soon. Wind chills are expected to reach between 20 and 30 below zero for our area. Please take all needed precautions to protect yourself from this extremely dangerous cold weather. At temperatures of 15 to 30 below, exposed skin can get frostbitten in minutes and hypothermia can quickly set in. If possible, stay inside and out of the weather altogether.

Check frequently on those who are especially at risk, such as the elderly and physically disabled. For up to date weather information, tune to your local radio and television stations, or visit the Grand Rapids National Weather Service on the internet at www.crh.noaa.gov/grr/
