The Michigan Department of Transportation will put several snowplows on the expressway to clear snow between 12th Street and Portage Road between 9:00 p.m. Thursday, and wrap everything up by 6:00 a.m. Friday. The snow-clearing project will begin in the eastbound lanes from 12th street. When the crews are done, they will clear the westbound lanes.
The intent is to clear snow that has piled up along barrier walls along I-94 and to clear as much snow as possible from the travel lanes.
Michigan State Police will supervise the closures. Portage residents can expect more traffic on Milham Avenue, the most direct route between 12th Street in Oshtemo Township and Portage Road in Portage.
