NEWAYGO COUNTY, Mich. – More than 7,000 Consumers Energy customers are without power after a single piece of equipment was damaged along an electric distribution.

The outage was reported at about 5:30 p.m. on Saturday.

A representative with Consumers Energy said the equipment that’s damaged is along a 46,000 vault electric distribution line.

They said the damage was not related to the weather and is an easy fix.

No word on when power will be restored.

Consumers Energy say crews are on the scene working to repair the damage.
