Officer Arrested in Kalamazoo for Allegedly Trading Drugs for Sex

Screen shot 2014-01-15 at 4.53.55 PMKALAMAZOO, Mich. — A 37-year-old reserve officer from Plainwell was arrested Monday for allegedly soliciting sex in exchange for drugs.

Michael Strong, the reserve lieutenant for Prairieville Township police, was charged Wednesday in Kalamazoo’s 8th District Court with one count of delivery of amphetamine and one count of felony firearms.

According to a release, Michigan State Police received information that Strong was soliciting men for sex in exchange for drugs.

Strong arranged to meet a man in Kalamazoo for sex, and that man was an undercover police officer.  Strong was arrested after allegedly bringing amphetamines to the meeting.

He faces up to seven years in prison if convicted.

Following the announcement of his arrest Wednesday, Prairieville Township Police Chief William Thompson issued a statement saying that Strong was suspended from the force.
