LANSING, Mich. — The House Energy and Technology Committee is holding a hearing in Lansing on Tuesday morning, regarding last month’s widespread storm-related power outages across the state.

State Rep. Aric Nesbitt (R-Lawton) chairs the committee, and he extended an invitation to three of Michigan’s electricity providers: Consumers Energy, Lansing Board of Water and Light, and DTE Energy.  The invitation is to have them testify before the committee regarding their response to the outages, and how preparedness plans were utilized.

December’s ice storm hit Michigan just before Christmas, leaving more than half a million people without power.  Some remained in the dark until after the new year.

FOX 17 will have a crew in Lansing for Tuesday morning’s hearing.
