HOLLAND, Mich. — Holland Christian sophomore Brad Timmerman sunk a half-court shot at Monday’s basketball game at Holland Civic Center.
“I couldn’t believe it, I just kind of stood there for awhile and it took a second for it to kick in,” said Timmerman. “”When I was getting ready to shoot it… I didn’t really expect it to go in at all.”
Timmerman’s feat is even more incredible given the fact his older brother Ben, now a sophomore at Grand Valley State University, made the exact same shot on the same court in 2004, when he was 10 years old.
“The chances of that to me are just incredible,” said Wendy Timmerman, the boy’s mother. “I was videotaping it, and as soon as it happened, my phone went down, we were screaming. It was a lot of fun.”
Timmerman took the shot at halftime as part of a contest sponsored by Legacy Financial Network. He won an iPad Mini, along with a check for $1,000 thousand dollars for his school’s athletic department, which will be presented at a basketball game on February 11th.
