ADA, Michigan– Richard Schmeling will spend the next three to five years in prison after pleading guilty to secretly filming the dressing room of the Ada Dance Studio.
Schmeling, 28, pleaded guilty to surveying an unclothed person, capturing and distributing the recording and using a computer to commit a crime. As part of the plea deal, charges of eavesdropping and installing the device were dropped.
Schmeling’s iPhone was discovered in the ceiling of the dance studio locker room March 19. His fingerprint was found at the scene.
After searching Schmeling’s residence, Kent County detectives found a recording of the girls changing room at the dance studio. No nude images were found.
