DETROIT, Mich. (Feb. 4, 2014) – Detroit Police Department is seeking tips, trying to find a missing 5-year-old girl and her mother who may be on their way to Elkhart, Ind.

Zoie Jackson was picked up by her mother from a Detroit Community School in the 12600 block of Burt Road on Tuesday, and hasn’t been seen since.

Court records indicate Jackson’s mother, Carmela Lynn Jackson, 37, does not have custody of her daughter.  Detroit Police say Mrs. Jackson has also been diagnosed with schizophrenia.

The vehicle they’re believed to be in is a black 2002 Lexus SUV with Michigan License Plate number CMR0252.

Carmela Jackson is 5 feet 6 inches tall and 150 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes.  Zoie is 4 feet tall, 62 lbs with braided, shoulder-length hair.  She was last seen wearing a red shirt, black pants and black boots with fur around the top.  She was also carrying a black and pink backpack.

If you’ve seen them, you’re being asked to call the Detroit Police Department at 313-237-2579.
