GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (Feb. 5, 2014) — Despite evidence to the contrary on West Michigan highways, snow was letting up around the area by mid-morning Wednesday.  Additional accumulation will be minimal through the rest of the daytime, with the possible exception of areas east of I-69, where the heavier snow will linger into midday.

Snow totals around West Michigan were generally between two and five inches from the storm system that left much higher amounts south of the state line.  Several reports from Northern Indiana were in the five- to ten-inch range Wednesday morning.

As the snow leaves the region, there will be a break Wednesday afternoon; a little sunshine is possible, but not all that likely.  Temperatures will, at best, get back into the low 20s with wind chills around 10°.

Colder air will hang on through the rest of the week, with highs in the teens and lows near zero.  However, only some light and scattered lake-effect snow showers are likely.

Some additional snow is possible over the weekend, but details on that part of the forecast are still unclear.  You can follow all the updates to the 7 Day Forecast on the Weather page.
