Ionia Co. Fire Victims Identified

Ionia County fatal FireBOSTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. — The two victims in Tuesday’s Ionia County fire have been identified by officials.

Steven Mack Smith, 51, and 47-year-old Thomas Arthur Smith, both of Boston Township, were killed after a mobile home in the 5300 block of Hotchkiss Road caught fire.

Ionia County deputies say the family’s dog was also killed in the fire.

Officials were notified about the fire at approximately 2:20 p.m.  When they arrived on scene, they said the mobile home was fully engulfed in flames.

Autopsies revealed that both victims died as a result of the fire, and no foul play is expected.  The exact cause of the fire has not been determined.
