Stabbing Suspect at Large near Ferris State University

BIG RAPIDS, Mich. (February 23, 2014) – A suspect is at large after stabbing a Ferris State University student early Sunday morning, according to the Mecosta County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputy Beau Bielecki says the stabbing happened off-campus at 3:18 A.M. Sunday, at the Oakwood Apartments on the 19000 block of 14 Mile Road. Deputies say the suspect stabbed the 20-year-old student during a fight. The victim has since been treated and released by Spectrum Health Big Rapids Hospital.

Deputies say the suspect is a white man, 6-feet tall, 170 pounds, with medium-length brown hair and a short, scruffy brown beard. They say he was last seen wearing a black jacket, pants and a white hat with a different colored brim. Deputies add that the man may still be armed with a pocket knife.
