Recall Roundup: Off-road Vehicles, Heated Gloves, and More

consumer-alert-recalls-gfxBETHESDA, Md. (Feb. 26, 2014) — From recreational off-road vehicles and inline skates, to heated gloves and garage door openers, this week’s recall roundup is seeing another wide variety of products that consumers may want to look into.

The two largest recalls this week are from Polaris and Rollerblade USA, both of which have more than ten thousand units affected by their respective recalls.

Below is more information on the four recalls announced this week by the Consumer Product Safety Commission.

Polaris Ranger Recreational Off-Highway Vehicles – The vehicles’ throttle cables can melt on the exhaust pipe and fail to operate properly. This can cause the rider to lose control, posing a crash hazard.  About 16,550 units are impacted, and the models include 2013 Polaris Ranger® 500 EFI and Ranger Crew® 500 EFI.  Repairs are available.  Click here for more information on this recall.

Ski-Doo® and Can-Am® heated gloves and Lithium-Ion Rechargeable Batteries – The glove’s lithium-ion rechargeable battery pack can overheat, posing a fire hazard.  About 450 units are affected in the U.S., with an additional 1,200 in Canada.  The manufacturer has received three reports of batteries overheating while charging.  Refunds are available.  Click here for more information on this recall.

Genie Garage Door Openers – The control board can overheat, posing a fire hazard.  This recall involves Genie models PowerMax 1200 and 1500, and Genie Pro, models TriloG 1200 and 1500.  About 10,000 units are impacted in the U.S., with an additional 8,000 in Canada.  Repairs are available.  Click here for more information on this recall.

Rollerblade® Tempest Inline Skates – The mounting holes in the boot and frame can be misaligned causing the boot to separate from the frame, posing a fall hazard.  About 11,800 pairs are impacted.  Consumers should immediately stop using the skates and contact Rollerblade USA for a free inspection and free replacement if the mounting holes on their skates are misaligned.  Click here for more information on this recall.
