KALAMAZOO, Mich. (February 28, 2014) — From the Western Michigan Athletic Department:

WMU fans now know what they will be doing on at least four Saturdays and one Friday this coming fall.  The Broncos open the home campaign with the annual CommUniverCity Night on Sept. 20 against Murray State.

Previously announced non-conference road games make up the rest of the September portion of the schedule with contests at Idaho (Sept. 13) and Virginia Tech (Sept. 27).  WMU opens the 2014 season at Purdue on Aug. 30.

Western Michigan will have two Mid-American Conference games at Waldo Stadium in the month of October, including its MAC opener against Toledo on Oct. 4 and a showdown with Ohio on Oct. 25.  The Broncos and Bobcats have not played since Oct. 4, 2008.  That game, a 41-20 WMU victory, marked the 500th win in program history.

Road games scheduled for October come in back to back weeks.  The Broncos travel to Ball State, the site of the program’s last overtime game, on Nov. 11, and are at 2013 MAC Champion Bowling Green on Oct. 18.  WMU has not faced the Falcons at Doyt Perry Stadium since the 2010 season finale.

November opens on the road as Western Michigan travels to Miami on Nov. 1 for its third and final crossover game with the MAC East Division.  The Broncos then focus on their in-state rivals the following two weeks, hosting Eastern Michigan on Nov. 15 and traveling to Central Michigan on Nov. 22.  WMU will have its only short week of the season on Thanksgiving week, hosting 2013 MAC West Champion Northern Illinois on Friday, Nov. 28 on either ESPNU or ESPN3.

Western Michigan will have two open weeks in 2014, the first coming on Sept. 7 and the second coming on Nov. 8.  All game time will be confirmed once television selections are finalized through the conference office.  Official game designations, including Homecoming, will be announced in the near future.
